Fajon: No visa liberalisation without the ratification of demarcation

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV & RTK1)

European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for liberalisation of visas for Kosovo, Tanja Fajon announced that the voting for Kosovo’s visa liberalisation recommendation has been postponed to September. She emphasized that the voting process will largely be dependent on the ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro.

“Postponed vote on visa-free travel for Kosovo to September. Vote largely depends on ratification of border agreement with Montenegro” Fajon wrote in her personal Twitter account.

The postponement is related to the voting in the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, which is required before the voting at EP plenary session takes place, RTK1 reported.

Fajon called upon Prishtinë/Pristina policy-makers to take on the necessary steps in order for the EP to approve the removal of  the visa regime within 2016.

“I strongly believe that with the ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro, the European Parliament will be able to support the abolishment of visas for Kosovo within 2016,” Fajon emphasized.

On the other hand, Kosovo Minister for European Integration, Bekim Çollaku told Kosovo media that Fajon’s decision to postpone vote on visa-free travel was expected due to the non-ratification of the border demarcation with Montenegro.

AAK chairperson, Ramush Haradinaj accused the Government of Kosovo for delaying the revision of the demarcation, saying that potential delays in visa liberalisation process are direct consequences of the current Government’s ignorance and “also of a vindictive PM’.

Ternava: ICK committed to prevent extremism

(TV21)

Kosovo Mufti Naim Ternava said, in an interview for TV21, that the Islamic Community of Kosovo (ICK) is continuously involved in preventing extremism and terrorism. He emphasized the importance of inter-institutional coordination against terrorism.

Among other topics, Mufti Ternava expressed his hope that the position of religious communities would be defined within this year.  He said that ICK has submitted several comments on the draft-law on religious communities, which shall define the position of these communities.

“We requested from the Assembly of Kosovo to incorporate our comments or at least to include some of them in the draft law. If this draft-law gets approved as it is currently, it will harm Kosovo’s national cause and future,” Mufti Ternava said.

Majority of the young people from north want to migrate

(KTV)

A research carried out by the Educative Youth Club ‘Sinergija’, found out that over 80 per cent of youngsters aged between 15-30 years from the municipalities in the north of Kosovo want to leave their hometowns, the online version of KTV reported.

“Despite the fact that large funds are allocated for the improvement of the position of the young people in the north of Kosovo, the number of young people leaving their birthplaces is increasing continuously,” said Igor Simic, a researcher of Singerija.

The main reasons for migration are unemployment, poverty, poor education system, domestic violence and criminality among young people.

Half of the young people in municipalities in the north consider that the future in Kosovo will be worse than the present.

(Klan Kosova)

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa announced, through a post in his personal Facebook account, that LDK MP Alma Lama will be Kosovo’s next Ambassador to Italy.

He said that Kosovo will have an excellent Ambassador in Italy.
