Mustafa: MPs will ratify the demarcation

(KTV)

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa is anxiously waiting for the debate on demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro, scheduled for 03 of August, the online KTV reported.

Before the 3rd of August, which likely might be the ‘D-day’ for him, Mustafa, through a post in Facebook account, gave his instructions how the debate should be oriented. He requested from the experts to make public the hectares that Kosovo allegedly has lost from the agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro, while he recalled that the independence of Kosovo has been declared based on the Ahtisaari package.

“If there is a confirmation that Kosovo has lost the alleged hectares, then those who have done this will be held responsible, if there are no facts about this, then the responsibility will lay with those who wanted to burn Kosovo for this cause.

… I believe that the Law for Ratification of the Agreement for Border Demarcation with Montenegro will be voted by all MPs and the conditions will be created for our citizens to profit from the visa liberalisation and make progress with other crucial processes for Kosovo.  Citizens cannot pay they isolation price due to the political agenda of the opposition parties and because of the populists politics of some individuals”, reads Mustafa’s statement.

Haradinaj to attend the debate on demarcation

(Klan Kosova)

Few days ago, AAK chairperson Ramush Haradinaj addressed a request to Kosovo Assembly speaker, Kadri Veseli, asking to attend the debate on demarcation with Montenegro, which will be held on 3rd of August.

Sources of the news-portal ‘lajmi.net’ said that Haradinaj’s request has been positively responded by Speaker Veseli, thus enabling Haradinaj to attend the debate.

Haradinaj made such a request because he has already handed the mandate of the MP while the debate of 3rd of August shall be attended by MPs, members of the Governmental Commission for the Border Demarcation with Montenegro, and several experts.

EULEX to have 800 employees after the reconfiguration

(RTK)

Around 800 EULEX employees will be dismissed as a result of the reconfiguration of this mission, said the Spokesperson of the European Commission, Maja Kocijancic.

Extension of the EULEX mandate by 14 June 2018 includes reconfiguration of the mission also. This reconfiguration, which implies downsizing half of the staff, will be completed by December this year, Kocijancic announced.

“After the reconfiguration the Mission will have 800 employees compared to 1600 as it had in the previous mandate”, Kocjancic said, emphasizing that the reconfiguration will include also the local and the international staff of the Mission.

Academy for Public Safety requests an additional building

(KTV)

Because of the large-scale trainings and the great number of participants during a year, the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, requested from Kosovo Ministry of Interior the construction of a new building dedicated to the Academy.

Part of the Academy is also the Faculty of Public Safety, which is completing the registration of the third generation of students.  The increased number of students and the continuous trainings for members of different institutions has raised the need for an additional building.

MIA through a written statement to KTV confirmed that the project is part of budgetary plans for 2017 and that the same project has been forwarded to the Ministry of Finances for approval.

The new building of the Faculty of Public Safety will have 7000m2 space and it is expected to cost around EUR 2.7 million euros.

KUCC doctor refuses to treat a journalist

(KTV)

Media group ‘KOHA’ reacted to the incident that happened between Friday and Saturday night, when a doctor refused to offer medical assistance to a journalist of Koha Ditore.

“Refusal to offer medical assistance to the journalist of ‘Koha Ditore’, Saranda Ramaj in the Emergency Clinic of the Kosovo University Clinical Centre (KUCC) by the doctor Nerxhivane Halimi, is not only a criminal act and violation of the medical ethic but also an attack against the freedom of the media, in an attempt to discourage journalists to report misuse and the irresponsible treatments in this crucial public sector in Kosovo” reads the reaction of Koha Group.

The reaction also notes the scandalous and arrogant behaviour of Kosovo Police member Muhamet Smakiqi to the journalist Saranda Ramaj, when she reported the incident to the office of Kosovo Police in the Emergency Clinic.

Ramaj received injuries from the stampede in Prishtinë/Pristina Beer Festival, and she ended up seeking medical assistance in the Emergency Clinic. However, Doctor Halimi refused to offer the emergency assistance mentioning her profession as a journalist, while the policeman Smakiqi, verbally offended the journalist Rama, as she was reporting the case to him.

“Grupi KOHA expects from the Prosecution and Kosovo Police Inspectorate to treat this case with urgency,” concludes the reaction of KOHA group.

Journalist Saranda Ramaj has disclosed the biggest scandals in Kosovo’s health sector, such as the stent scandal and the scandal with pharmaceuticals.
