Recommendation of the Serbian Government and all Serbian sport associations at the Olympic Games is that Serbian athletes should leave the medal podium if they end up there together with the Kosovo representatives, however the final decision would be up to every individual athlete, the Serbian Minister for Sport, Vanja Udovičić, stated.
He said to TV Pink that as the minister and athlete, he does not support the decision which enabled Kosovo’s participation at Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. We went on to say that he himself is not sure how would he behave in such situation, but that ‘we can’t recognize Kosovo through sport results’.
Udovičić added that Kosovo is reality at the Olympic Games from which we can’t run away and which shows that politics is present in sports.
