The leader of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Naim Ternava, through a press statement on Monday condemned the attempt by a Kosovo Serb to demolish the minaret of a mosque in the village of Velekincë, in Gjilan municipality. Ternava said the attack on religious buildings, regardless of motives, is an unacceptable act and as such incites hatred, intolerance and more violence. “We urge the authorities to take appropriate measures for the security of religious buildings. The Islamic Community remains dedicated to the cultivation of tolerance, understanding and confidence in our country,” reads the statement.
