– If there are privileged who will avoid justice, a situation similar to that of the Hague Tribunal, of course, it will not be the highest international standards, unless one thinks that what was done in The Hague is the highest standard – said Drecun.

Nevertheless, he considers that the prosecution team engaged quite seriously with gathering evidence in recent months, and how many indictments will be it depends primarily on the results of their work, but also from the fact whether there will be political pressures.

Commenting on appointment of an American, David Schwendiman, as the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court for investigation of crimes against Serbs, Drecun says that it was expected that the special investigative team will grow into the prosecution team.

According to him, the appointment of Schwendiman as the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court is a very important step towards the beginning of the Court functioning.

Drecun recalls that first indictments can be expected in September as announced from the Prosecutor Office, and that the final technical preparations are on-going for the Court to start with work.
