First indictments prepared for war crimes of the KLA (KoSSev, TV Most, KIM radio, Politika)

The first indictments for war crimes of the KLA likely to be raised by year-end, writes daily Politika.

According to unofficial information of the Fund for Humanitarian Law, Politika writes, so far have been prepared indictments against eight persons.

“The Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court for war crimes committed against Serbs in Kosovo from 1998 and 1999, David Schwendiman probably will raise by the end of the year, the first indictments against KLA members suspected of organ trafficking. He also announced the continuation of conducting of investigations and visit to the region soon,” the daily writes.

According to unofficial information of Nemanja Stjepanović, from the Humanitarian Law Fund, so far indictments against eight persons were prepared.

He said that information on charges were not made public due to the security reasons, and that the protection of witnesses will be the biggest challenge for the prosecutors of the Special Court, reports Politika.

“With these problems encountered and the Hague tribunal, and if the Court desire is to have success in work then it should not repeat those mistakes. This court has to create conditions in which the witnesses feel safe,” said Stjepanović.
