EU rebuts Tahiri: No agreement on license plates (Koha)

European Union has rebutted statements from Kosovo’s chief negotiator Edita Tahiri that an agreement was reached between Pristina and Belgrade on the use of license plates for vehicles travelling to and from Kosovo and Serbia. The EU foreign policy spokesperson, Maja Kocijančič said the recent meetings between the parties have not resulted in such an agreement. “There are ongoing talks but additional effort is required,” Kocijančič told Radio Free Europe. Tahiri, meanwhile, insists agreement has been reached but that Kocijančič was perhaps referring to the issue of use of license plates in the northern part of Mitrovica which is yet to be finalised.

Haliti convinced demarcation will be decided through arbitration (Telegrafi)

Kosovo Assembly deputy president and senior official from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Xhavit Haliti said he believed the border demarcation with Montenegro will end up at the International Court of Arbitration but that the court’s decision will not vary from the present version of the border demarcation agreement. However, Haliti’s view is not shared by the government which insists the agreement should not be tackled by the arbitration court and that it should instead be ratified by the Kosovo Assembly in its original form.

Marić: Mustafa ready to establish Association/Community (RTK)

Kosovo’s Minister of Local Government and Administration, Ljubomir Marić told RTS that there needs to be political will on the part of Pristina for establishment of Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. “In discussion with Prime Minister Mustafa, we saw there is political support,” he said.

US judge Carolan resigns from Kosovo’s Constitutional Court (Koha)

The US judge Robert Carolan has submitted his resignation from the Kosovo’s Constitutional Court. The reason behind Carolan’s decision to resign, according to Koha Ditore, is an investigation being carried out by the EU on the way EULEX has paid Carolan and the mission’s readiness to strip him of his immunity in a case involving the former head of the Constitutional Court, Enver Hasani.
