US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Brian Yee is in a two-day visit to Kosovo.

During the first day of his visit, Hoyt Brian Yee met with the President of the Assembly of Kosovo Kadri Veseli, Minister for dialogue Edita Tahiri, as well as with representatives of Serbs in Kosovo institutions – Branimir Stojanović and Slavko Simić.

While Yee talked with Kosovo officials about “the unconditional support to Kosovo” and “excellent relations between the two countries,” at the meeting with Serbian representatives, they discussed the problems that face Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo.

Stojanović said after the meeting that they discussed the circumstances in which Serbs live. Stojanović has reported during the meeting about legal uncertainty, the blockage of the return process, difficulties in exercising rights of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and said also that the participation of Serbian representatives in Kosovo institutions have been very often meaningless, i.e. they have been excluded from political decision-making.

-Serbs have never been a destabilizing factor, or someone who creates tensions, they have never been part of the problem, but part of the solution. We do not want to participate in the farce and to be a decoration, we want to bring concrete decisions and implement what has been agreed, Stojanović added.

Today Yee will meet the Minister of the Kosovo Security Force Haki Demolli and Commander of the KSF Rahman Ramaj.
