Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri, has initiated amendments to the legislation forthe confiscation of illegal wealth and said he will soon submit these amendments to the government. Tahiri made this announcement during a workshop in Pristina on the management of confiscated wealth. “I will soon submit these amendments to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and I am confident that I will have the support of parliament members to adopt these amendments. Strengthening the rule of law will be a priority of the Kosovo government and we will be maximally engaged in this respect,” Tahiri said. He also said that the government will focus on the fight against organized crime and corruption and highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in the fight against organized crime. “We in the Western Balkans must turn into an asset of the European Union. We must start thinking about exporting security and not being hosts to illegal trafficking,” he added.
