Morning after yesterday’s incidents in Mitrovica North goes peacefully, however, citizens are shocked and concerned over what had happened, Serbian media reported.
“I think that all relevant factors need to get involved and calm down tensions so something like this never happens again,” Mitrovica North Municipal Administration Director, Adrijana Hodzic told RTV KIM.
Hodzic also thinks the special police units ROSU used excessive force and there was no need for that.
“This is definitely not a positive message. This must not have happened and I hope someone would be held responsible for all what happened yesterday,” she said.
After the murder of Oliver Ivanovic this was one of the hardest days for citizens in Mitrovica North, Ksenija Bozovic told RTV KIM.
Bozovic also criticized representatives of the international community for “mild critics” regarding yesterday’s events in which police used arms, tear gas, and shock bombs against barehanded people.
She also added Serbs representatives should leave the government, assembly and all bodies they participate in immediately.
Yesterday’s events are detrimental to interethnic relations in Kosovo and could additionally hamper relations between Belgrade and Pristina, analyst and journalist Nexhmedin Spahiu told RTV KIM.
“This must not have happened, that people crucial in negotiations are humiliated in such a way. Kosovo authorities acted very rigid, and when it comes to Marko Djuric, I do not know why he needed that, why he brought himself in such situation. It is in on one’s interest, nor it represents a good image in the world,” he added.
