Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, and President Hashim Thaci met separately today in Pristina Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). Haradinaj wrote on Facebook after the meeting that they agreed to undertake joint efforts to find solution to many important issues which have been waiting to be tackled for a while now. “Good neighbourly relations are a guarantee of peace in the region,” Haradinaj wrote. Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by Thaci’s office, cooperation between Kosovo and FYROM and their Euro-Atlantic integration were the focus of the meeting with Ahmeti. “It is very important to move forward as a region because only this way can we strengthen peace and stability across the Western Balkans,” Thaci said underlining that Kosovo supports efforts for resolving FYROM’s name dispute with Greece. “The resolution of the name dispute and Macedonia’s subsequent membership in NATO is in the interest of peace in the whole region,” he noted.
