Contract for printing passports terminated (Indeksonline)

After numerous attempts to overcome dispute over implementation of the contract for supplying of electronic passports between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Austrian company OeSD and after consummation of legal deadlines of the contract for resolution of disagreements, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has undertaken legal measures for termination of the contract.

“The Ministry has reached the decision as the OeSD company has failed to respect article 12.2 of the contract and did not provide timely support of electronic passports. Article 5 of special criteria of the basic contract has been breached. Article 3 of the agreement has not been respected, article 16 of the contract and lastly, our request for amicable resolution of all disputed points was refused,” reads the statement to the press of the Ministry.

On 30.01.2013, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has informed OeSD company for termination of the contract for supply with electronic passports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs will announce a new tender for electronic passports supply in accordance to the procurement law.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs assures the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo that the procedure for being issued with biometric passports will continue normally as per applicable laws.
