Extraordinary session of the Assembly of Kosovo on the Law on the Specialist Chambers of the Supreme Court on Privatisation Agency of Kosovo has started with disagreements between the government and opposition political parties.

Vetevendosje Movement, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Social-Democratic Party stated at the Assembly that this Law was initially presented as a replacement of EULEX in Kosovo, while according to them, it came as something completely different at the Assembly. Therefore opposition political parties did not agree to adopt this bill through accelerated procedures while government coalition parties insisted to pass the law as such.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj assessed the endorsement of the law as a significant decision in Kosovo – EU relations. “This is also an indicator of seriousness of our relations with the EU. You know that liberalization means law and order. If Kosovo shows negligence in taking over responsibilities, it can draw a criticizing position,” Haradinaj said. He further called the opposition to discuss the first reading of the bill and the to hold the second reading even in July, but certainly before going on leave.

After an agreement between the Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri and all parliamentary groups, it was decided to discuss the law on 9 July.
