Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, said today that following the positive recommendation for visa liberalisation for Kosovo, there can be obstacles at the EU Council of Ministers due to the recent debate on immigration. “The good news that Kosovo has met all requirements for visa liberalization is only the first step. The next step will be at the Citizens Committee, which will be held on August 29. The negotiating mandate is given there and then dialogue between the member states follows,” Hoxha said. “The whole process needs to be concluded with a treaty between the EU and Kosovo. I admit we may have obstacles at the EU Council of Ministers because some of the ministers are more conservative, but we are drafting an action plan with the Government, then with the Assembly and the Committee, and we will lobby with the member states to present Kosovo’s achievements”.
