The Kosovo-based Council for Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) has issued a statement opposing appointment of Radomir Laban as judge to the Constitutional Court. CDHRF said Laban’s appointment in unlawful as he has been convicted for criminal activity in Serbia and is still on Interpol’s list of wanted persons and that President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci has ‘legitimised criminalization’ of the Constitutional Court by decreeing him.  “Surprisingly, the international community has not reacted to this criminal decreeing,” CDHRF said further. It noted that Laban’s appointment damages reputation of Kosovo and aligns it among countries that do not fight corruption and organised crime but rather encourage it.
