A protest was held in Gracanica today over the decision of the Kosovo government to increase taxes on goods coming from Serbia and BiH to 100 percent, reports KIM radio.

The head of the Clinical Hospital Center in Gracanica told the gathered people that the loss of even one human life is not worth any political victory, reports KIM radio.

The protest was attended by the representatives and workers of the Municipality of Gracanica, health institutions, representatives and workers of educational institutions working in the system of the Republic of Serbia and numerous locals.

The crowd carried banners stating: “EU, open your eyes”, “Stop the Pristina’s violence”, “We want peace, not wars”, “We do not have medicines” …

“This is an indicator of how much Pristina is powerless to open the door to the citizens for the future. It is inconceivable that in the 21st century we live in such circumstances,” said the mayor of Gracanica, Srdjan Popovic.

The residents of Gracanica municipality point out that neither the Serbs nor the Albanians benefit from the new fees.

Director of Primary School Vuk Karadzic in Lepina Zorica Talic expressed regret that people are gathering on this occasion. She points out that “democracy do not apply to us,” and that “we must live the way the Pristina authorities force us”.

At a protest meeting in Gracanica, student of the Technical Faculty in North Mitrovica, Dusan Borisavljevic, said that students had the right to life and education and appealed to the international community to prevent a humanitarian crisis, reports KIM radio.
