Bekim Collaku, adviser to the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, said the tax imposed on Serbian goods is very good but Kosovo is being nailed by internationals for this action. He said that if the U.S. and EU request from Kosovo to annul this tax, “why should we not consider its annulment for a short period?” Collaku asked.

He said that it is not enough only to claim that one is ready for dialogue and added that concrete actions are required. He noted further that the international community was very loud in objecting the tax on Serbian goods. “If the U.S. and the EU ask us to have understanding that the issue of the tax will be resolved in the dialogue, then I personally think that if the Government continues the dialogue why not consider provisional suspension of this measure on condition of giving opportunity to the dialogue for two or three months, “he said.

“The tax was justifiable as a temporary, effective political measure. But now, it has made its own impact. Serbia understood that Kosovo is independent and sovereign, and it can bring independent decisions,” Collaku said.
