Mitrovica South Mayor Agim Bahtiri, in an interview to RTV Dukagjini, commented on the petition he sent to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on Thursday for the unification of Mitrovica. He said the problem is that “no one dares to decide or act on the matter”. “I have prepared the parliamentary groups and it will be voted with a majority of votes as soon as it is sent to the Kosovo Assembly. I have sent it to the Assembly, it was sent to the Government, then the latter sent it to the Ministry for Local Government. The Ministry advised the Assembly to turn down the petition. On Thursday they gave me the possibility to send the petition to the Office of the President and then he will send it to the Assembly,” Bahtiri said. “I will leave no stone unturned. I am preparing to send it to every parliamentary group. I must initiate every possible procedure so that Mitrovica can be legally united before the start of talks in Brussels”.
