Drecun: US offer won’t be on table for long (RTS)
Serbian National Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun told RTS morning news edition the USA realized that a compromise is needed in order to change the status of the Serbian southern province. This offer, according to Drecun, would not be on the table for long.
Drecun added Serbia must undertake certain measures if Pristina does not revoke the tariffs it imposed. “We avoid all the time to resort to such measures that should correct Pristina’s attitude. Pristina should not be punished, but it should start acting rationally and open the way for the talks.”
Speaking about delineation, Drecun said this story was open thanks to the change in attitude of the USA. He noted, the US under Trump’s administration realized the problem can not be resolved by forcing Serbia to recognize unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, but that a compromise in needed in order to differently model the status of the Serbian southern province.
According to Drecun, this offer will not be on the table for long.
Pristina-based Gazeta Express reported yesterday referring to unnamed sources that France and Germany would present in a meeting in Berlin an idea of “dual sovereignty.”
Drecun noted that Berlin and Paris have parallel activities with Washington.
“It is evident the EU has been pushed aside. These both countries are for the reform of the EU that should turn around this axis. We should see if they coordinated something, or this would be their last offer,” Drecun said, adding this proposal has not been defined yet.
