Serb detainees end hunger strike (KIM radio)

Serb detainees in North Mitrovica Milan Kompirovic and Slobodan Sovrlic have ended a five-day hunger strike which they started, as they explained, due to a pressure exerted on them by the EULEX Prosecution.

Kompirovic and Sovrlic, both from Zubin Potok, believe that ‘the court will review its decisions,” their lawyer Faruk Korenica said.

In a letter addressed to EULEX they also explained the reasons for starting a hunger strike and quoted pressure and improper behavior of EULEX prosecutor Pascal Persons. In their letter they said that they only want to confess the truth.

Sovrlic, who is suspected for committing several criminal offences, said that prosecutor Pascal Persons has threatened him during questioning with serious punishment if he ‘doesn’t accuse people he doesn’t know’.

Kompirovic, who is charged with helping other persons escape detention, said that he doesn’t want to provide fake testimony upon prosecutor’s request and accuse people he doesn’t know.
