Nikolic preparing proposal of a final solution for Kosovo (KIM radio)

President of Serbia Tomilsav Nikolic announced that he will soon forward to Serbian Government his final proposal on solution for Kosovo and Metohija issue.

“I work on that intensively, considering that we are somewhere on the edge and any further concession of ours would mean that we have a bit silently agreed with many things,” said Nikolic to Belgrade-based weekly NIN. Nikolic added that if there is no unity of the state leadership he can’t do more because neither foreign nor domestic policy is in his jurisdiction.

“But, since I won direct elections, it is expected from me to have a stance and I am ready, like in case of the previous platform for Kosovo, to propose an initial text and that Government tells me what is possible for it, and what is not, in order that we come to a joint solution and to seek support for it in the international circles,” Nikolic explained and added that no one will be fully satisfied with that proposal and that there will be resistance on the side of western states that  recognized Kosovo’s independence.

Nikolic went on to say that if recognition of Kosovo’s independence appears to be a condition for the EU accession, it would be a clear signal from Brussels that Serbia is not wanted as the EU member state.
