Serbian mobile operator in October will be licensed in Kosovo, but only with limited operations, said on Saturday President of the Board of Directors of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal communications, Kreshnik Gashi.
According to the announcement of Gashi, Kosovo will get, in early October, dialling code +383 while at the same time Serbian mobile operator will obtain permission to operate in Kosovo, but only with limited operations.
"We'll get one operator in one specific territory where so far operated three operators, as provided in the agreement on telecommunications and on the basis of an agreement which was signed by the two prime ministers," said Gashi, reports RTK2.
He adds that it is expected that this will happen when this agreement is completed, and when its implementation begins "i.e. when we get the dialling area code for Kosovo, the operator will start to function legally in the territory of Kosovo."
According to him, the operator "currently is conducting its business illegally on the territory of Kosovo," but this agreement on telecommunications provides for the normalization of the functioning of telecommunications throughout Kosovo.
Gashi announced for this week the final meeting in Brussels on the dialling code, and added that the Serbian side with the mediation of the EU would remove barriers for the admission of Kosovo into the International Telecommunication Union.
"All operators that operate on the territory of Kosovo will be obliged to use the country code +383, including the Serbian side, their activities will be limited to a few areas in which they operate now," said Kreshnik Gashi.
