Serbia delivers non-paper to EU with four requests (Večernje Novosti)
Minister without Portfolio in charge of EU integration Jadranka Joksimović and Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić met with ambassadors of EU member-states in Belgrade on Thursday. The ambassadors were informed about the current situation in the region, positions of Belgrade regarding the open threats and negative reactions towards Serbia as well as the concerns of the Serbian government that the EU and its members turn a blind eye on all that.
Today’s edition of Večernje Novosti reports that during this meeting a non-paper was presented to the ambassadors. The document, with four demands, points to the tensions in the region and "the legitimization of the Greater Albania project".
The document presented during the meeting has four requests:
1. The relevant international actors to condemn aggressive rhetoric that pushes the Western Balkans into new conflicts and divisions.
2. Continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue
3. The search for a balanced, political and peaceful solution to the crisis in FYROM, and respect for international standards in terms of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of internationally recognized states.
4. Unconditional respect of the international standards in terms of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of internationally recognized states.
The document (non-paper), among other things, cited the most extreme statements made by Albanian political leaders since the beginning of the year.
The daily also learns that Đurić will deliver next week the same paper to UNMIK chief Zahir Tanin, along with a request to forward the document to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Večernje Novosti also reports that French ambassador Christine Moro, German Ambassador Axel Dittmann and EU Representative Oskar Benedikt have spent the most time explaining EU's positions. The comments given were usual that all sides should work to calm the situation with an aim to peace and stability in the region.
