Kocijanic: Mogherini in Belgrade on dialogue foremost (Tanjug, RTS)

EU High Representative Federica Mogherini would reiterate during her visit to Belgrade that commitment to working on normalization of Belgrade-Pristina relations, within a dialogue she mediates, must continue, European Commission Spokeswoman, Maja Kocijancic told Serbian media.

Kocijancic also added Mogherini would meet in Belgrade representatives of the authorities and civil society to discuss European Commission report on Serbia.

"Serbia will wait three and a half months, as it has been said, for the statute of the ZSO (to be drafted) - but this will not happen," Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

The President Vucic told the RTS on Wednesday that he will talk with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini on Thursday, and that he expects "words of encouragement" from her.

He added that the main topic of their conversation will be the relationship between Belgrade and Pristina.

According to political analyst Dusan Janjic, arrest of Marko Djuric was security-political trigger that sped up existing preparations for negotiations in a new format, Tanjug news agency reported.

He expects this new format would include two observers, one from the USA and the other from Germany. He also added that new format in fact means more intensive talks, prepared by political negotiators, and to be “completed by presidents in several meetings.”

Centre for Foreign Policy Chairperson, Aleksandra Joksimovic told Serbian media that EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini with arrival to Belgrade showed a clear support to the Serbian side.

“Usual format of visits to the region includes tours in Belgrade and Pristina. The visit to Belgrade only, indicates a concrete and a clear support to Serbia, since Pristina is responsible for the violence in the north of Kosovo,” Joksimovic told RTS.

Previously a press statement was issued in which the EU High Representative Mogherini stressed that “what happened yesterday must not happen again.”

Pacolli meets Mogherini, asks for speeding up of visa liberalisation process (media)

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, said in a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, that the decision to grant Kosovo visa liberalisation is decisive and needs to happen soon as it has a strong impact on the perspective of the Kosovo youth. Pacolli also reconfirmed the commitment of Kosovo institutions to dialogue for normalization of relations with Serbia but added that it was important for the process to have a timeframe.
