Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, will visit Belgrade on 24 April if there is readiness in Serbia for such a visit. Kosovo’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi, told Radio Free Europe that the ministry accepted the invitation of the Youth Council for Education to take part in a conference about Western Balkans EU integration but whether the visit would take place is a matter that “does not depend on Kosovo but on the readiness in Belgrade”.

Kosovo's Constitutional Court today declared as admissible the request of the Kosovo Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli, in regards to constitutional amendments (Amendment 24) which would allow the establishment of a special court that will address war crimes allegations.  According to this decision, the proposed Amendment No. 24 does not diminish the rights and freedoms set forth in Chapter II and III of the Constitution. Therefore, the proposed amendment is in accordance with the Constitution.

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, met on Tuesday with the head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger. Hyseni and Schlumberger discussed the current cooperation between the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the Ministry of Interior. Hyseni assured the Schlumberger that this cooperation will continue in the future and expressed readiness for cooperation in the areas of law enforcement with the OSCE mission.

“The Kosovo Roma community remains on the margins of the society, therefore more needs to be done to ensure their full social inclusion,” Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger, said today on the occasion of International Roma Day.

A press release issued by Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informs that after the meeting with the Croatian President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci met with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Josip Leko, with whom he discussed extension of the cooperation in parliamentary field. Speaker Leko said that Croatia was and continues to be strong promoter of visa liberalization and integration of Kosovo in the European Union.

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, on Friday met with a group of students from the American University in Kosovo, during which, it was emphasized the need for inter-religious harmony in Kosovo.

The Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM), on Thursday met with the families of 28 victims found in the mass grave at Rudnica, Raska last year. The DFM officially informed them about the identification of their relatives and handed over the relevant documents. The remains of the 28 victims will be buried in Rezalle village, Skenderaj municipality on the 5th of April, media report referring to a press release issued by EULEX.

The Assembly of Kosovo, neither in the third round of voting couldn’t manage to select the Kosovo Ombudsman. Veton Vula, the only candidate remained in the competition, got only 49 votes, which were not enough to select him in this post.  To become Ombudsman, the candidate must win at least 61 votes, so one more than half the total number of MPs of the Assembly. Koha writes that now there should be new advertisement for the Ombudsperson post.

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, received today the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Podgorica, non-resident for Kosovo, Hafsa Abdullah Mohammed Sharif Al Ulama, who delivered her credential letters. Jahjaga praised the relations between Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates and expressed commitment to deepen cooperation in all fields of mutual interest. She highly praised the support that the United Arab Emirates have given Kosovo in all processes of state-building.
