Opposition bloc without agreement with Vetevendosje in the Assembly (Koha)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said today that President Atifete Jahjaga cannot interfere and ask the Constitutional Court to rule on the post of Assembly Speaker. “This situation is different from the candidate for Prime Minister and she cannot do this now. 40 MPs can now send this case to the Constitutional Court,” said Haradinaj, who is the opposition’s candidate for the post of prime minister. Haradinaj called on all political parties to show a political and democratic culture at tomorrow’s constitutive session of the Assembly.

Vetevendosje: Dialogue and privatization damaged Kosovo the most (Koha)

Milk producers spill milk in front of government building (Koha)

Hundreds of milk producers and their associations have protested today in Pristina demanding better conditions and greater support for local farmers. Protesters spilled several hundred liters of milk in front of the government building. “We have gathered here to express our outrage and disappointment because of the negligence of Kosovo institutions to resolve problems that have been accumulating for years,” said Ramadan Memaj, head of the Kosovo Association of Dairy Processing. He said that if their requests are not met by 23 July they would organize Kosovo-wide protests.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters in Pristina that an agreement between the opposition coalition and the Vetevendosje Movement has not been reached yet. Haradinaj said this after the opposition bloc met with representatives of non-Serb minorities. No agreement was reached in today’s meeting between leaders of the Vetevendosje Movement, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA). Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti said there have been setbacks from earlier agreements. “There is discordance from earlier positions of the Vetevendosje Movement and the LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition. These are mainly related to dialogue with Serbia, the process of privatization and other issues,” Kurti told reporters after the meeting.
