Kurti meets Jovanovic in Pristina (Telegrafi)

Vetevendosje leader, Albin Kurti, met last night in Pristina the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Cedomir Jovanovic. In a Facebook post, Kurti wrote that Jovanovic played an instrumental role in sending the former Serbian leader, Slobodan Milosevic, to face trial in The Hague as did in the arrest of Jovica Stanisic and Frenki Simatovic on war crimes charges. “We discussed relations between Kosovo and Serbia, political developments and social-economic situation in our countries, the situation in the region and European integration challenges.

Kurti: Haradinaj government will not last long (Telegrafi)

Vetevendosje leader, Albin Kurti, said in an interview to the Sarajevo-based television channel TV1 that the Ramush Haradinaj-led government of Kosovo will not last long as it only has 52 of a total of 120 MPs. “We expected Mr. Haradinaj to be different but ever since he sat on the prime minister’s chair, he has continued with concessions to Serbia and neoliberal privatisations as his predecessors,” Kurti said.

Veseli: EU recognised Kosovo’s progress on visa liberalisation (Telegrafi)

Head of Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli, said that that European Union “finally recognised” Kosovo’s progress in implementation of the visa liberalisation criteria. In a Facebook post, Veseli said that there is nothing more important in Kosovo’s European agenda at this stage than visa liberalisation for the people of Kosovo. “Kosovo institutions will address the challenges and remarks identified in the EU report as the only way to strengthen and build a European future for our citizens,” Veseli wrote.

Kosovo's Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Shyqiri Bytyqi, said that the Serbian schools in Kosovo continue to implement the system of the Republic of Serbia, as well as that they do not submit reports to the said ministry, Belgrade based daily Blic reports, quoting the Pristina's portal Telegrafi.

Bytyqi claimed that attempts were made to integrate communities, but that Serbian schools continue to operate under the system of Serbia.

Hoti: Ruling coalition needs to secure demarcation votes (Telegrafi)

Head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group, Avdullah Hoti, said his party fully supports the border demarcation with Montenegro and that it is up to the ruling coalition parties to secure the necessary votes to pass it. He said he very much hoped this issue that is being dragged on for three years finally gets an ending.

Kosovo Assembly vice president from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Kujtim Shala, said there is no official announcement on when the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro will be put to vote. Shala’s comment follows reports from certain media claiming the border demarcation issue would be voted by Assembly MPs on Tuesday, Wednesday or even Friday.

Tahiri: We have not yet made a decision on EULEX mandate (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Abelard Tahiri, said the government of Kosovo has not yet reached a decision on what will happen after the EU rule of law mission’s mandate expires this June. “We are in consultations stage and we have not yet come to a conclusion on the role of EULEX beyond June,” Tahiri said in a visit to the Forensic Institute in Pristina.

FM Pacolli sets on two-day visit to Japan (Telegrafi/Kosovapress)

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, will travel today on a two-day visit to Japan. A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry states that Pacolli will be accompanied on this trip by the Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, and they will meet Japan’s Minister of Economy , Trade and Industry, Hiroshige Seko, as well as Foreign Minister, Taro Kono. Kosovo ministers will seek further support from Japan as one of the main donors in Kosovo, the statement reads.
