Serbia knows what she wants in Kosovo (Akter)

Director of the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo, Marko Djuric was in Mitrovica yesterday despite opposition from Pristina, and held a press conference at the bridge over the Ibar River which separates the northern from the southern part of Mitrovica.

Djuric said that Serbia knows what she wants in Kosovo - stability, survival of the Serbian people, more harmony and unity.

Administrative Office in the north stopped working (TV Most)

Administrative Office of the Kosovo government in Mitrovica north does not function any more, stated the Chief of Administration in that municipality, Adrijana Hodzic. Hodzic said that there was no official handing over of the authorities and that workers will continue to work. “If one evaluates the work of four municipalities in the Kosovo north, Kosovska Mitrovica municipality has shown the best results for 2014.  Even in 2015, it started operating normally, with the exception of freezing the budget for all four municipalities in the northern Kosovo,” said Hodzic.

Rakic: Investigate the responsibility of all officers (KIM radio, Akter, TV Most)

Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakic requested last night the authorities to investigate the responsibility of the police officers who were on duty at the place where the young men was stabbed.

"We seek from the regional commander to submit a report, starting from the head of the shift to every officer who was at the time of the attack near that place, regardless of whether the police officer is employed in the police station North or South", said Rakic after an emergency meeting of representatives of local and the Regional Directorate of the Kosovo Police in northern Kosovo.

Job with a diploma from the University of Northern Mitrovica (RTK2, Koha Ditore)

The Kosovo government has expressed its intention to accept cadres from the University of North Mitrovica into public institutions, relocated after the war in Pristina.

"Koha Ditore" reports that the draft provides for the introduction of the University of Mitrovica into legal flows, and the government of Kosovo say they have a constructive approach in two directions.

The first involves a review of the compatibility of the Statute of the University of Mitrovica and harmonization with the central laws in order to integrate into Kosovo's legal framework.

Memorial service held in Kosovo for victims of NATO bombing (Tanjug)

A memorial service held early Tuesday in the church of St. Dimitrije in Mitrovica, northern Kosovo, marked the start of commemorations of the 16th anniversary of the onset of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

The service was attended by citizens, officials of the government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, officials of northern Kosovo municipalities and the head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District Vaso Jelic.

After the memorial service, wreathes and flowers were laid at the Truth memorial, situated near the main bridge on the River Ibar in Mitrovica.

Sale of the Serbian property without Serbs (Vecernje Novosti)

Pristina authorities are trying to use political vacuum, which occurred after Serbian MPs left Kosovo institutions, so they could continue illegal privatization of the property in the Serbian areas. Kosovo Property Agency announced privatization of 9 premises of socially owned enterprise “Luks” till the end of the month. 

Rakic calls for an end to privatization in Mitrovica (RTS, Blic, Tanjug)

Mayor of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakic called the Privatisation Agency of Kosovo to suspend the sale of premises, which belong to the company LUX in this city.

Privatisation Agency of Kosovo informed the municipality on March 9 that by the end of this month the privatization tender would be announced for nine premises of this company, increasing the number of the business premises to around 30, for the so-called privatization, in the last 15 days.

Shops are located in the central places in Mitrovica.

Pristina has no grounds to dissolve the municipalities (Blic)

President of the Municipality of North Mitrovica Ksenija Bozovic said that Pristina has no legal basis to dismiss the four municipal assemblies in northern Kosovo.  “Assemblies adopted the budget within the statutory deadline, and there are two legal decisions related to the budget. In any case, there is no legal framework for the dismissal. But, like everything else, the budget became a political issue that will have to be resolved between Belgrade and Pristina,” said Ksenija Bozovic.
