Dacic: Kosovo in OSCE? No chance!

Foreign Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, stated that Kosovo has no chance to be accepted at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE,) prior to reaching some kind of a political agreement, which will not be reached in Vienna. Speaking at a press conference, Dacic said that Kosovo’s demands to become member of OSCE are not new. “Decisions at the OSCE are reached by consensus. It is well known how difficult it is to reach a consensus,” said Dacic on Thursday while receiving officially Serbia’s presiding of this Organization.

Vucic with nationalist statements: Kosovo is the cradle of Serbia (Kosovapress)

After inaugurating the maternity hospital in Pasjan, Serbia’s Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, held a speech in front of the gathered population. Once again, he could not refrain from nationalist statements. “Kosovo is the cradle of Serbia. We will never forget Kosovo. We, as the government of Serbia, will continuously engage to create as many jobs as possible here, as well as a well-being for Serbs,” said Vucic.

Germany doesn’t grant asylum to Kosovo migrants (KosovaPress)

The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Angleika Viets, said on Thursday that Kosovo people who are migrating abroad will not receive asylum in Germany, because according to her,  economic situation is not a reason to get asylum. Viets said that Germany will refuse asylum applications, even though the number of applicants has increased.  Viets also added that Serbia and any other country that claims to enter the European Union has to normalize their neighborly relations.

Thaci and Mustafa meet Edi Rama, the two governments will meet in March (Kosovapress)

Hashim Thaci, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kosovo confirmed that the meeting between the governments of Kosovo and Albania will be held in March 2015. “Together with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa we had a coffee with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama. We discussed the agenda for European integration, acceleration of the economic development and increase of the well-being, regional cooperation and the recent political developments.

UNMIK donates vehicle to Slavisa Kolasinac’s office (KosovaPress)

The Municipal Office for Communities and Returns in Rahovec/Orahovac , which is led by Slavisa Kolasinac, received a vehicle as a donation from UNMIK office in Peja/Pec.

In a press release issued by the office of mayor of Rahovec/Orahovac, Idriz Vehapi, it is said that the purpose of the donation of this vehicle by UNMIK is to facilitate the performance of tasks and duties that this office has in the field.

Representative of Albanians in the North, arrested (Kosova Press)

Kosovo Police from the station in MItrovica North, arrested today Nazmi Ismajli, representative of Albanian population from “Kroi i Vitakut” neighborhood in Mitrovica North,  at around 11:00 hours, while he was working on the foundation of his house. He was interviewed for one hour and then he was released by regular procedures, but with the advice to interrupt rebuilding of his house, without obtaining a permission. “Yes, it is true. They arrested me and held me at the police station for one hour.

President Jahjaga to hold annual address before the Assembly (Kosovapress)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, is expected to address today Kosovo Assembly MPs while the Assembly will again convene later in the day in an effort to form parliamentary commissions. The proposal on which the Assembly presidency agreed includes creation of fourteen commissions and if this proposal doesn’t receive the necessary votes, the MPs will then vote on the creation of thirteen commissions.

Youths continue to leave Kosovo without a clear destination in mind (Kosovapress)

Youth leaving Kosovo in search of a better life has taken on a steady speed as last night, three busloads of youth set out to Belgrade and to Hungary and other European countries from there on. Although the passengers did not wish to speak on the record, off the record they said life in Kosovo has become so difficult that they are forced to seek better conditions elsewhere. Most of the youths did not have a specific destination in mind but they were determined to leave Kosovo at all cost.

Kuci and Hyseni travel to Belgrade (KosovaPress)

Kosovo Minister of Justice, Hajredin Kuci and Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni traveled on Thursday to Belgrade to attend Ministerial Forum EU – Western Balkans organized by the European Commission, Kosova Press reports. Kosova Press writes that the main topics of discussion during the forum will be the judicial cooperation and fundamental human rights, with particular focus on the rights of women and children. This forum will present the priorities of the European Union Presidency.
