Veseli: Election of the President was correct (Zeri)

 Kosovo Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, said after the meeting of the Assembly Presidency that the next Assembly session will be held on Thursday. He added that the next sessions will concern visa liberalization. “We will hold e session on 10 March to discuss ten issues of the agenda. We will hold an additional session after 10 March. The European Union is priority. Fulfillment of the criteria for visa liberalization are the conditions that we have to work on, therefore we will hold two sessions soon,” Veseli said.

Derguti: We will send the President to the Constitutional Court (Zeri)

Aida Derguti, from Vetevendosje movement has just left the meeting of the Assembly Presidency, and told media that the next Assembly session will be held on Thursday. She said that she tried to object this decision, however she was incapable to change anything. “The session will be held on Thursday, we will obstruct holding of this session as well. In the meantime, we will send the case of manner of the election of the President of Kosovo at the Constitutional Court. This is the position of the united opposition,” Derguti said.

Opposition will not send Thaci’s election to the Constitutional Court (Gazeta Blic)

Newspaper Fjala, has learned from its sources within the opposition parties that the united opposition has decided not to send the issue of Hashim Thaci’s election for president at the Constitutional Court. The President’s mandate and pledge are determined by Article 87 of the Constitution. Point 1 stresses that the President of the Republic starts the mandate after the pledge at the Assembly of Kosovo. Fjala newspaper contacted officials of the opposition parties, however they did not want to speak about this issue.

Enver Hoti, member of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) spoke for KTV about the further steps of opposition to object Hashim Thaci’s election for President and to bring down the government. He said that they are preparing to send the issue of election of the president to the Constitutional Court and that they are preparing for the new protest. He added that eventual finding of irregularities on border demarcation with Montenegro will cause additional problems to Thaci.

Vetevendosje activists overturn truck carrying Serb products (Kosovapress)

Vetevendosje Movement activists overturned a truck carrying Serb products. In a press release, Vetevendosje said the move is a response to the decision of Serbian authorities to send back Albanian-language textbooks to Kosovo. “16 years after the war, the perpetrator of massacres and wide scale destruction in Kosovo, the Republic of Serbia, is controlling and using Kosovo economically with its products, without recognizing it,” Vetevendosje said.

Opposition with dilemma on whether to send Thaci’s election to the Constitutional Court (Gazeta Blic)

The three opposition parties, Vetevendosje movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), have not decided yet on whether to send the case of Hashim Thaci’s election for president to the Constitutional Court. A senior official from the opposition, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that they are assessing all the documentation.

Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri arrested (Koha)

Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri was arrested this morning by police in his flat in Pristina. In a press release, Vetevendosje said Ymeri was taken by force to a court hearing. “The arrest of the leader of the largest opposition party comes after hundreds of arrests of the Movement’s activists and MPs in the last six months. The reasons behind these persecutions are entirely political,” the press release reads.

Haxhiu to LDK MPs: Do not go to the session (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo Assembly MP from Vetevendosje movement, Albulena Haxhiu, wrote on her Facebook page that “the square of opposition will be filled with the citizens of the Republic.”

Ymeri: Thaci cannot become President without meeting Serbian List’s demands (media)

Visar Ymeri, leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, writes on his Facebook account that the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader “Hashim Thaci cannot become President of Kosovo without meeting the demands of the Serbian List, a political entity created in Belgrade and which does not represent Kosovo Serbs, but only Belgrade and Vucic”. “The Serbian List has started threatening Hashim Thaci to get the most out of him. Thaci wants power so much that he is willing to promise and give everything to Serbia just so he can become President of Kosovo.
