Deda: I do not participate at the sessions called only due to grudges (media)

Kosovo Assembly MP from Vetevendosje Movement, Ilir Deda, known for his different position from his parliamentary group, said for the media that neither throwing of the tear gas nor suspension of the MPs is legal. Deda said despite of the fact that he was not suspended by the Assembly Presidency, he would not participate at the Assembly session which will be held at an alternative hall.

Haradinaj: Attempt to frighten us aggravate the situation (Kosovapress)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said holding of Assembly session at alternative hall does not make sense. According to him, only annulment of the agreements can bring back normality, while the attempt of the government to frighten the opposition will only aggravate the situation.

Kosovo Assembly session for endorsement of the 2016 budget is being held at an alternative hall. The suspended opposition MPs said this session is illegal.

Police arrest MP Ismail Kurteshi (media)

Several news sites report that Kosovo Police arrested Vetevendosje MP Ismail Kurteshi this morning. The court had previously ordered a house arrest measure for Kurteshi for setting off a teargas canister in the Kosovo Assembly, and Kurteshi violated the measure by attending an opposition rally in Gjilan/Gnjilane on Saturday. The Basic Court in Pristina later announced a 30-day detention measure against Kurteshi.

Kosovo Assembly continues session in alternative setting (all media)

Kosovo Assembly has continued its plenary session in an alternative setting following the release of teargas by the opposition at the debating chamber. The session is being attended by the ruling coalition MPs and although initially reported that six opposition members would be permitted to the session, the opposition claims they are not being allowed in. Earlier, in the meeting of the Kosovo Assembly presidency, Vetevendosje MP who is also Assembly Vice President, Aida Derguti, released teargas thus interrupting the meeting.

Police arrest AAK MP Pal Lekaj (media)

Several news sites report that the Kosovo Police arrested Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) MP Pal Lekaj as he was leaving the Assembly premises today. Lekaj is believed to have set off one of the teargas canisters in today’s session of the Assembly. The AAK issued a press release confirming Lekaj’s arrest. “The AAK strongly condemns the political actions of the police against the MPs and their family members. There is no force that can turn us back from the righteous cause of defending the Constitution and the territorial sovereignty of Kosovo.

Konjufca: I set off the teargas (Lajmi)

Glauk Konjufca, head of the Vetevendosje parliamentary group, told reporters that he set off a teargas canister at the Kosovo Assembly session today. “I set off the teargas with several other MPs. This is a collective action by the opposition; others have done this before me and others will do it after me. We decided to set off the teargas and who would set it off. The opposition is determined to prevent the implementation of these agreements because they are damaging for Kosovo.

Delawie: The opposition did not heed Secretary Kerry’s advice (media)

The US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawie addressed the media at the Assembly following the interruption of the session by opposition MPs who yet again released teargas in the chamber and expressed concern with the recent developments. Delawie commended the MPs who, he said, are trying to enable the Assembly to function normally and added that on his latest visit to Kosovo, the US Secretary of State John Kerry called for dialogue between the parties. “I see that the people are not heeding it,” Delawie stressed.

AAK: We will use all means to oppose agreements (Indeksonline)

In a statement to the media, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) said that it is final time for the Kosovo leadership to retract agreements on border demarcation with Montenegro and Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. The AAK said that the calling of Assembly sessions at a time when Kosovo is experiencing a deep political crisis is becoming dangerous. The party called on the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga to urgently intervene in resolving the situation.

Haradinaj: We will prevent the Assembly session on Monday (Kosovapress)

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj told the news site today that, the opposition will try to prevent the session of the Kosovo Assembly on Monday. “We, the opposition bloc, are discussing ways to oppose the session. We will continue to oppose the assembly sessions until the two agreements are withdrawn. We are also organizing activities and rallies. There will be a combined opposition to the assembly session on Monday,” he said. Haradinaj said there is no reason for President Atifete Jahjaga to deliver an annual speech to the Assembly.
