Police arrest Vetevendosje MPs Haxhiu and Topalli (media)

The news websites reported earlier in the day that the Kosovo Police arrested Vetevendosje MP Albulena Haxhiu wanted for her role in the releasing of teargas at the Kosovo Assembly chamber. Haxhiu is reported to have been arrested in Pristina. In the afternoon, the media reported that another Vetevendosje MP, Faton Topalli, also wanted by the police, was arrested inside the premises of the Kosovo Assembly. In a Facebook post, Topalli said he was inside the Assembly and was not being allowed by the police to leave.

Deputy President of the Assembly of Kosovo Xhavit Haliti, says the relations between the opposition and political majority at the Assembly, have been  strained and conflicting, ever since its delayed constitution. In fact, he adds, relations are inexistent. He notes that issuance of the arrest warrant for four MPs of the opposition and Albin Kurti’s public arrest by the police, during the Flag Day at Vetevenodsje headquarters, has seriously damaged and even closed ways to discussions and dialogue.

Delawie and Zbogar support the continuation of work in the Assembly (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli today met with the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie and the EU Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar. During the meeting it was discussed about the recent developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the work of the Assembly. Delawie and Zbogar expressed their support for the continuation of the work of the Assembly, in order to avoid creating delays in the promulgation of laws relevant to the processes through which Kosovo is going.

Mustafa: We have received Kerry’s full support (Epoka e Re)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa informed on Thursday during the meeting of the government that the U.S. Secretary of state gave full support to the work of the government. Mustafa said he feels happy for the support that the U.S. is giving to Kosovo. He informed that he discussed with Secretary Kerry the current issues in Kosovo, Euro-Atlantic integration orientation, the work of the government, stability and peace of the region and the issues which currently concern Kosovo.

Zbogar: SAA needs strong institutions and functional Assembly (Koha)

Successful implementation of the Stabilization Association Agreement will be determinant for the future of Kosovo towards the next step, gaining the status of the candidate for European Union membership. For successful implementation of the SAA, Kosovo needs to have strong institutions and a functional Assembly.

Kosovo Assembly: We do not have any more work for this year (Gazeta Expres)

Kosovo Assembly has completed the entire legislative program submitted by the government. A press release issued by the Assembly of Kosovo, informs that during Monday’s session, MPs discussed 16 draft-laws, ratified two international economic agreements and discussed a number of reports on the work of different state agencies. With these 35 points of the agenda, the Assembly of Kosovo fulfilled its legislative program proceeded so far by the government of Kosovo.

Ilir Deda: Suspension of the opposition, suspension of democracy (Koha Ditore)

Vetevendosje deputy, Ilir Deda, considers suspension of the opposition, suspension of democracy. He wrote on his Facebook page that such suspension did not occur even in Russia, Venezuela or Belarus. “Today’s act marks the end of the Mustafa-Thaci government. PDK-LDK coalition represents the most anti-democratic regime in Kosovo during these 16 years of freedom. Of course I will not participate at the works of the Assembly without my opposition colleagues. The belated change will happen to Kosovo sooner than we thought,” Deda wrote.

Derguti: Suspension of the opposition in contradiction with regulation and Constitution (Gazeta Express)

Vetevendosje deputy and Vice-President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Aida Derguti, stated that exclusion of the opposition deputies from today’s session of the Assembly, is in contradiction with the working regulation of the Assembly of Kosovo and the Constitution of Kosovo. She also announced organizing of the protests. “In a country where opposition is not within the parliament, then it cannot be called a parliament,” Deguti said.
