The German Ambassador in Kosovo, Angelika Viets, says that internationals do not want to get involved on creation of the new government.
She says however that they only want to remind Kosovo politicians to resolve this matter with great responsibility, being that Kosovo has major problems, which are at the same time major challenges.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo in cooperation with the German government, launched today the second project on strengthening capacities of Kosovo institutions in fighting serious corruption “Development of capacities of Kosovo agencies and Special Prosecution in fighting corruption of the high level.”
In an interview to RTK, German Ambassador Angelika Viets said that the debate over the ratification of border demarcation agreement with Montenegro has been overly polarized. “The border demarcation agreement, reached after three years of work, has been reviewed several times. Among others, this was also done by a group of international experts commissioned by then president Jahjaga which also included a renowned German expert, Dr. Wilmes.
In an interview for Radio Kosova, German Ambassador to Kosovo, Angelika Viets, said that while it is the European Commission that decides on whether to lift visas for the people of Kosovo, in her opinion, the chances for this to happen this year are very slim. “Kosovo had several months to fulfill the visa liberalisation criteria and did not do this,” said Viets. On the issue of Pristina-Belgrade dialogue in Brussels, Viets said that the process of talks has currently stalled and, as a consequence, agreements reached in its course are not being implemented.
Leaders of Kosovo institutions and foreign diplomats presented today in Gracanica the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund. Small and medium sized businesses are expected to gain an easier access to loans after the establishment of the Credit Guarantee Fund, which enables more favorable loans for them.
The Fund, which is a local, independent and sustainable institution, will issue partial guarantees for loans to the financial institutions, increasing in this manner access for micro and medium sized enterprises.
Successful implementation of the Stabilization Association Agreement will be determinant for the future of Kosovo towards the next step, gaining the status of the candidate for European Union membership. For successful implementation of the SAA, Kosovo needs to have strong institutions and a functional Assembly.
