Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa and Interior Minister Skender Hyseni said in a meeting today that the security situation in Kosovo is satisfactory. Mustafa said that thanks to coordinated efforts by security institutions in Kosovo, the number of the Kosovo citizens that decide to join terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq has significantly dropped, with no such case being reported in the last eight months.  Hyseni said Kosovo is proud of its commitment to the fight against terrorism.

Kosovo’s Interior Minister Skender Hyseni said the Kosovo Police is pursuing several clear leads regarding the recent Molotov cocktail attacks on the government institutions and vehicles. Hyseni did not give any more details due to the ongoing investigations but noted that the use of violence as a means to an aim is unacceptable.

Asylum seekers and their reintegration has been a topic of discussion at a table with Interior Minister Skender Hyseni and mayors of several municipalities. Hyseni said his ministry together with the municipalities will have to continue with awareness campaigns on repatriation benefits.  "The reintegration and repatriation process will continue even after the Europpean Commission recommends  visa liberalization for Kosovo.

Kosovo Police general director Shpend Maxhuni, during a press conference today said that preventing and combating organized crime remains a priority for this institution, together with the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism. According to him, Kosovo's citizens deserve to have less crime and much more security. Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, stressed that another priority of the Kosovo Police and Interior Ministry remains its membership in all international organizations.

Kosovo’s Minister of Interior, Skender Hyseni, met with the ambassadors of the EU member states accredited in Pristina. He told them that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is determined to fulfill criteria for liberalization of visas. Except for the visa liberalization they discussed illegal migration, violent extremism and terrorism.

Montenegro is expected to ratify soon the agreement for demarcation of the border with Kosovo. Montenegro’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Igor Luksic, confirmed the news in an interview for Montenegrin media. “I believe that Montenegro will very soon complete ratification of the agreement for demarcation with Kosovo,” he said.

Kosovo Interior Minister Skender Hsyeni met today with KFOR Commander Maj. Gen. Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta to discuss the recent visit of the Serbian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic in Kosovo. A press release issued by Interior Ministry noted that Hyseni expressed his concern over the recent visit of Gen. Dikovic in Kosovo.“Such visits of Serbian military personnel accused by human rights associations for war crimes in Kosovo, do not contribute to the overall safety and security in Kosovo. Moreover, such visits could destabilize the situation.

Kosovo’s Interior Minister Skender Hyseni said in a press conference today that the Kosovo Police will never be subject to political orders and that it handled yesterday’s protest in Pristina “marvelously.” Hyseni said that violence directed at the police is unacceptable and that no one will be amnestied from responsibility. He called on the opposition to discuss the issues of concern at the Assembly and not take to the streets. Koha reports that in the press conference, Minister Hyseni also admitted that the Kosovo Police has no equal approach to all of Kosovo.

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, today participated in the regional conference on combating corruption and capacity building of the Kosovo institutions in combating high level corruption, organized by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and supported by the German Federal Government. Hyseni said that the rule of law institutions are obliged to undertake all possible actions against corruption. "Corruption cannot be defined exclusively as a problem of a state, but it is a general problem.

The head of the parliamentary group of the Serbian List in the Kosovo Assembly Slavko Simic said that steps were agreed in a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo Skender Hyseni for the police to implement in order to ensure the security and freedom of movement of Serbs.

Simic says that will be taken effective measures in high-risk areas, and there are also certain areas where incidents are repeated, such as the municipalities of Klina/Kline and Pec/Peja.
