OSCE: Independent institutions ensure good governance (Indeksonline)

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo today organized a conference with the theme: "Strengthening the performance of independent institutions", where it was said that the functioning of independent institutions contributes to good governance. The head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Jan Braathu, said the OSCE since 1999 has helped strengthen the institutions in terms of budgeting, supervision and finally parliamentary accountability.

OSCE strongly condemns attack on public broadcaster in Kosovo (Koha)

The Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Jean-Claude Schlumberger, and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović, today condemned last night’s attack on the premises of Radio Television Kosovo (RTK) in Pristina.  “I am appalled by the attack on RTK, particularly at the time when there were still people working inside the building. This appears to be an act of intimidation and I condemn it in the strongest terms. It’s an attack on an important public institution and on freedom of expression,” said Ambassador Schlumberger.

The OSCE mission by occupying a part of the estate of Miloš Živković from Leskovac threatens elemental property rights, states attorney of Mr Živković, Dobrica Lazić.

Miloš Živković from Leskovac, as he says, is the owner of the estate of 2 hectares in the industrial zone in Kosovo Polje/Fushë Kosovë, which, he says, is occupied since 2000. The largest part of the estate is occupied by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

Communities to have 12% of places in Pristina University (Zëri)

Kosovo’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has issued an Administrative Instruction under which the quotas for enrolment of students from the non-majority communities in public institutions of higher education in Kosovo will include 12 % of the total number of students in each academic unit. Through this guideline, the Government is stimulating communities to attend higher education.
