Jahjaga to challenge Thaci (Zeri)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, might get another mandate to lead the Presidency of Kosovo. The paper writes that Jahjaga has the support of the international community.  "Jahjaga continues to have a strong international support. They are interested that Jahjaga remains President for another mandate," an international source from Quint states told the paper. According to this source, Jahjaga has positively represented Kosovo in the international arena, and was received with the highest honors.

President wants to lead Kosovo delegation to New York (Koha)

While the Kosovo Assembly was voting on the constitutional amendments paving way for the establishment of the special court, Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa received a letter from President Atifete Jahjaga which angered him and his deputy, Hashim Thaci, a great deal. In the letter President Jahjaga said that based on her constitutional responsibilities, she had decided to lead the Kosovo delegation travelling to New York in end of September to take part at a series of events part of the UN General Assembly week.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, met today in Vienna with Germany Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Through a Facebook post, Thaci said that Steinmeier congratulated Kosovo on the recent successes and said that Kosovo made brave steps towards integration in the European Union and NATO.  “Germany will be with us during the coming weeks that will unfold very important steps for the people of Kosovo,” Thaci wrote from Vienna where he is participating in the Western Balkans Summit.

Thaci: Serbia needs to disengage from nationalism (Koha)      

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, in an interview for Austrian daily Tiroler Tageszeitung said Serbia’s leadership needs to disengage from nationalism and prove it is committed to cooperation and normalization of relations with Kosovo. “In relation to Kosovo, political leadership in Serbia still pursued hostile policies. In the case of Serbia’s Prime Minister, Mr. Vucic, it is important he is assessed in face of his actions and not words,” said Thaci.

Haradinaj: Suspend the initiative on border demarcation with Montenegro (media)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has sent a letter to Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, Assembly President Kadri Veseli, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, calling on them to suspend the initiative for the demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro. Former KLA members throw bottles at Thaci (B92, Tanjug)

Deputy Kosovo PM and ruling LDK party leader Hashim Thaci was pelted with bottles on Monday as he was walking from the assembly to the government building.

Thaci was attacked by former members of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), who were also chanting, "thief, thief." They were protesting for not being included in a list of KLA "veterans."
