The Court of Appeal in the French city of Colmar on Thursday, March 2, to announce in a public session a decision on Serbia's request for the extradition of Ramush Haradinaj on suspicion that he committed war crimes in Kosovo, Tanjug learns from the court.

The Court in Colmar has three options in its decision making, a spokeswoman of the court Sandra di Rosa told Tanjug.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, addressed the people of Kosovo to congratulate them for the anniversary of the declaration of the independence of Kosovo. However, he had special congratulations for the leader of the Alliance for Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj. “I especially congratulate for this anniversary, this time, the former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Ramush Haradinaj who is being kept unjustly out of the country, based on an arrest warrant of Serbs who committed systematic crimes in Kosovo,” Mustafa wrote.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is planning a number of actions to oppose the postponement of decision into its leader’s extradition request by Serbia. Head of AAK parliamentary group, Pal Lekaj, said that the party has not yet decided on the future course of action but did not rule out the possibility of boycotting Assembly sessions until AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj is not released.

The lawyer for the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj, Arianit Koci, said that even if the court in Colmar, France, decides to accept Serbia’s request for his client’s extradition, it is the French Ministry of Justice that will have a final say on the matter. Koci reiterated however that Serbia’s arrest warrant against Haradinaj was political and abuse of international law. He also said Serbian authorities are blackmailing France into extraditing his client. “Leaders in Belgrade have publicly states that if Mr.

Ramush Haradinaj, the detained leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), will appear before a French court on 9 February when a final decision on whether to extradite him to Serbia is expected to be announced. Haradinaj was detained by French authorities on 4 January on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia.

Ramush Haradinaj, the detained leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told Radio Free Europe today that he might return to Kosovo next week as the court proceedings against him are expected to be concluded by mid next week. He said the accusations against him by Belgrade authorities are “a political game on the eve of elections”. “This is a mindset from times of war that has returned to Belgrade and it correlates with the upcoming elections there. This however does not mean that all of the Balkans and Albanians should submit to this mindset.

In a telephone interview with AFP, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj, currently in France pending a ruling on an extradition request from Serbia, said that there can be no dialogue with Serbia for as long as it continues not recognising independence of Kosovo. He said it was damaging that Pristina maintains an “inferior” and “servile” position towards Belgrade. “Only one issue is open for discussion with Serbia – recognition of Kosovo. If Serbia is ready to accept it, then we can sit down and talk. If not, we will have to wait,” he said.

Head prosecutor of the Special Court on war crimes committed in Kosovo David Schwendiman told Večernje Novosti that he did not issued the warrant for the arrest or extradition of Ramush Haradinaj.

"Haradinaj was arrested by French authorities based on a Serbian warrant, which has issued it independently. That has not been done at my request," he said.

A request for the extradition of one of the leaders of the former KLA Ramush Haradinaj, has not arrived at the Court of Appeal in the French city of Colmar, and when the court would announce its opinion on the request of Serbia is still  unknown, reports Večernje Novosti.
