KLA graffiti in Strpce municipality (RTS)

During the weekend in the villages of Bitinja, Popovce, Brezovica and Rakanovac “KLA” graffiti and inscriptions “Kosovo-Albania” were written, RTS reports. The case was reported to the Kosovo police that is looking for the perpetrators. The inscription of graffiti has caused disturbance among the Serbs living in the area, where they make the majority and noted there were no inter-ethnic incidents happening before. The Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija condemned the incident saying it cannot be interpreted differently, but as an open threat to the Serbs in south of Kosovo.

Strpce residents request permissions to reconstruct hydro power plants be cancelled (Radio kontakt plus)

Strpce residents and residents of Donja Bitinja village in the Strpce municipality protest today in front of the municipal building against reconstruction of mini-hydro power plants on the rivers Lepenac, Bolovanka i Kaludjerka, Radio kontakt plus reports. Residents are requesting municipality to cancel decisions for constructing the mini-hydro power plants. Donja Bitinja is a village whose residents also protest construction of mini-hydro power plant. Village representative Agron Rushiti stated earlier there was no public discussion before reconstruction of power plant.

Construction of mini-hydro power plant in Strpce continued on Saturday (KoSSev)

Despite of months-long protests by the local residents “Metkos Group” company from Pristina is continuing with the construction of a mini-hydro power plant at place called Obereka in Strpce municipality, KoSSev portal reported on Saturday. Even though local residents prevented the construction on Friday, the company accompanied by the special police units from Urosevac and local police officers resumed construction only one day after. More than 70 Strpce residents gathered to protest again.

Conflict between the Kosovo police and Serbs in Strpce (Radio Mitrovica Sever, TV Most, B92, N1)

Radio Mitrovica Sever reports that members of the Kosovo Police Intervention Unit injured ten Serbs from Strpce, who tried to prevent the passage of the excavator to the both rivers in Strpce where the construction of a mini hydroelectric power plant began.

The radio learns that Kosovo Police used pepper spray and batons while unblocking the road. The injured were given first aid in the Health Center in Strpce.

Residents of Strpce blocked the road and prevented the continuation of works on mini hydro power plant near Obereke (Gracanicaonline.info)

Portal Gracanicaonline.info learns that residents of Strpce prevented this morning the excavator from the company Matkos group from Pristina to reach the site of Obereke, above Strpce, where the construction of a mini hydro power plant began.

Around 50 people spontaneously gathered when early this morning the cargo truck of the company Matkos Group was spotted while transporting the excavator to the place where the construction of a mini hydroelectric power plant is planned.

Protests announced today in Mitrovica North, Gracanica and Strpce (KIM radio, Tanjug)

A peaceful one-hour protest will be held in Serbian communities in Kosovo, Mitrovica North, Gracanica and Strpce today at noon due to the introduction of a tax on Serbian goods, Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo Government, Dalibor Jevtic, told Tanjug last night.

Collective centres in Brezovica without electricity again (KIM Radio)

The electricity in collective centres in Brezovica was cut off over unpaid debts from 10 years ago, KIM Radio reported. There are around 300 displaced persons living in the four collective centres in Brezovica. Milan Janjic, displaced person from Urosevac told RTV KIM the electricity was cut off this morning around 9.00. Every month Commissariat is paying for one portion, while we pay the exceeding portion.
