Beqiri: LDK will not support a demarcation agreement that strips Kosovo of its territory (Indeksonline)

The head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group Ismet Beqiri said after the meeting of the Assembly presidency that the opposition parties are not allowing the ruling coalition MPs to express their views on the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. “LDK will not vote for a demarcation that that strips the state of Kosovo of its territory. But this has to confirmed first,” said Beqiri.

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) parliamentary group has requested in the meeting of the Kosovo Assembly commission for legislation the review of border demarcation agreement with Montenegro and the one on Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities with Serbia. AAK’s member in the commission, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi said the government of Kosovo is doing everything to prevent the Assembly from ratifying the above agreements but stressed that the Constitution requires this.

Peja/Pec residents to protest against border demarcation with Montenegro (KosovaPress)

The residents of Peja/Pec will protest tomorrow against Kosovo governemnt signing the agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro.  Former Mayor of Peja, Ali Lajci, who is one of the organizers of this protest, told KosovaPress that the protest will start at 12:00 and will last for one hour. Lajci also called on the people from different places in Kosovo to join the protest.

Border demarcation agreement with Montenegro to be signed in Vienna (Gazeta Express)

The Montenegrin paper Vijesti has reported that the border demarcation agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro, negotiated since 2009, will be signed on 27 August in Vienna during the Western Balkans summit. According to the paper, the basis of the agreement will be the borderline of 1974. The signing of the agreement will be witnessed by Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga and Montenegro President Filip Vujanovic but the document will be signed by foreign and internal affairs ministers.

Haradinaj: Suspend the initiative on border demarcation with Montenegro (media)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has sent a letter to Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, Assembly President Kadri Veseli, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, calling on them to suspend the initiative for the demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro. Haradinaj argues in his letter that the border demarcation suggested by the Kosovo government constitutes a violation of the Constitution of Kosovo. “The proposition violates the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo.
