Albanians blocked the road in Brdjani (RTS)

A small group of Albanians this morning blocked the road in Brdjani area, in northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Albanians have blocked the road, which is leading towards the buildings in which Serbs live. In the same area the Serbs began construction of two residential buildings. Albanians request that construction of houses in this multi-ethnic settlement will be also allowed to them. 

Office for Kosovo head prevented from entering Kosovo (B92)

Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Đurić was on Tuesday prevented from entering the territory of the province.

He was turned back by the Kosovo police, from the Jarinje administrative crossing. According to Tanjug, Đurić will shortly make a statement for the media.

The official was headed for Banjska, to attend a groundbreaking ceremony there for housing units financed by the office that he heads.

Đurić was also to visit Zvečan and the mining complex Trepča, and confer with representatives of Serbs in northern Kosovo.

The Socialists’ Movement members the first (Vecernje Novosti)

The largest number of votes in the elections for the parliament of Kosovo received lesser known Serbian candidates. The Socialists' Movement members from Leposavic/Leposaviq left behind and some representatives of the Albanians.

Despite resistance from the northern Kosovo Serbs to vote in parliamentary elections in Kosovo on June 8, the most votes in the Serbian List, supported by Belgrade, won the candidates from the north who mostly are unknown to the general public.

Peaceful night in Mitrovica, police presence stepped up (Tanjug)

Zeljko Bojic, regional head of the operative Kosovo police, has said that the night was peaceful after the removal of a barricade on the bridge between northern and southern Kosovska Mitrovica.

Bojic said that the police presence in the city will be stepped up.

A cultural heritage fair will be held on Thursday evening so the police presence in the downtown and near the main bridge on the Ibar River will be stepped up, Bojic told Tanjug.

KFOR: Removal of the barricade positive, but not and construction of the park (RTK2)

KFOR welcomed removal of the barricade at the bridge in Northern Mitrovica as a positive step which serves the reconciliation, but said in a handout that construction of the park is very symbolic and politically motivated.

The handout further reads that KFOR will continue to contribute to safe environment at the bridge and that its units were present at the bridge, whereas KFOR remains ready to adjust its actions in any moment.

Placing of concrete flower pots at Ibar/Ibër Bridge underway (Blic)

Concrete flower pots have been placed at the site from which the barricade was removed this morning on the northern part of the Ibar/Ibër Bridge.

The Director of Serbia’s Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric, and mayors and chairpersons of the provisional bodes in northern Kosovo are present at the venue.

Journalists were briefed by the Mayor of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakic. He said that he made the decision to build this “Park of Peace” near the bridge, in coordination with the Serbian leadership.

Removed containers at the main bridge in Mitrovica (Danas)

Belgrade - Multiple sources in the northern part of Mitrovica confirmed to our newspapers that several containers were removed in the city that were placed in front of the barricade on the Serbian side of the main Ibar/Iber River Bridge.

It was not possible to get an official response from the Municipal authorities in North Mitrovica, whether and the barricade will be removed, which protects the Serbian part of the city since 2011. Since the introduction of UN protectorate in Kosovo in June 1999, Mitrovica city is divided into northern Serbian part and southern Albanian.
