"Enforcement of the law on strategic investments our municipalities will not allow'' (Kontakt plus radio)

The law on strategic investments will not be enforceable in the territory of the municipalities in northern Kosovo; it was concluded yesterday at a meeting of mayors from northern Kosovo.

''At the moment when the whole region aspires to European values, the adoption of such a law which centralize decision-making, and thereby completely excludes the principle of decentralization, indicates insincere attitude of the central government towards local governments,'' reads the statement.

And today protests over Trepča (NMagazin, KiM radio)

The Director General of Trepča, Jovan Dimkić in a statement to RTS announced the protest at 10 am in Leposavić/Leposaviq and in the village of Rudare and Zvečan/Zveçan.

Several hundred workers of Trepča from Zvečan/Zveçan blocked yesterday, around 2 pm, the main road Mitrovica-Raška, at Rudare, dissatisfied with the decision to include the law on Trepča under urgent procedure into the agenda of the session of the Assembly of Kosovo.

Vice Presidents of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Marko Jakšić and Slaviša Ristić resigned (Kontakt plus radio)

The two vice-presidents of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and members of the Central Committee, Marko Jakšić and Slaviša Ristić, have resigned from the positions at the session of the Main Board, due to, as they say, the DSS cooperation with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

First to resign was Marko Jakšić, who then left the session. He also said that he is leaving the party.

Migrants to use a new route - through Kosovo (Vesti)

If the situation deteriorates in Syria, Afghanistan, and if Turkey decides, depending on the outcome of negotiations with the European Union, to direct refugees to Europe, which are stationed in this country, in late October, Serbia could face a new big wave of migrants that would arrive through so far little used route - through Kosovo.

A school in Mitrovica north burned (Kosova Press)

A powerful blast occurred on Thursday at around 23:00 hours at the old school “Brank Radicevic” in John Kennedy Street, Mitrovica north. Some people were injured and there are material damages as well.

Kosova Press sources informed that three families of Serb nationality, two from Mitrovica south and one from Croatia lived at this school. A person in his sixties was treated at the hospital in Mitrovica north due to the injuries caused by this fire.

Firemen managed to localize the fire at around midnight. Causes of the fire are unknown.

Municipalities in the north have refused registry of agricultural land (KIM radio)

Municipalities in northern Kosovo have refused to be the part of the registration of farms in Kosovo which was conducted from 1 to 20 November last year.

The registration was performed in 34 municipalities in Kosovo.

Although it was anticipated that results of the registration will be published in September, the Statistical Institute of Kosovo announced that today it will present the results.

Permanent traffic ban and permanent check point at Mitrovica bridge (TVMost))

Commenting on the anxieties of the citizens of northern Mitrovica regarding the future opening of the bridge, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić informed TV Most that “King Peter Street in Mitrovica will be fully closed for traffic and transformed into a modern pedestrian zone, like Knez Mihailova in Belgrade […] and will literally be fully closed from any direction from South Mitrovica and be even more visible than it was in earlier periods. From the bridge, it will only be possible to turn to the Bosniak Mahala and to Suvi Do.

Revitalization of the Ibar Bridge soon to kick off (TV Most)

After several postponements, construction works at the Ibar Bridge in Kosovska Mitrovica should kick off on Sunday.

The agreement reached in Brussels in August last year envisaged reconstruction of the main bridge and the main street in northern part of Mitrovica. Representatives of Kosovo Serbs say that all will be done in order that security of residents is provided.
