EPS not to lay off workers (RTK2)

The Director General of the Energy Corporation of Serbia (EPS) Aleksandar Obradović paid a visit to Gračanica/Graçanicë local authorities yesterday where he discussed current state of affairs of EPS in Kosovo with local authorities. Obradović said that not a single employee of the EPS will be laid off, and added that Serbia will not give up on them. “There were rumors that EPS will give up on its employees, that there are no plans for fighting for tis property here.

Reactions to the proposed Day of remembrance (RTK2)

The proposal of the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to suggest a common Day of Remembrance for the victims of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, at the conference on the Western Balkans in Vienna, was unacceptable for the Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and Foreign Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaci. Representatives of the Association of Kidnapped and Missing Serbs in Kosovo have different opinion.  "If the whole world decided that 30 August is International Day of the Missing persons, then we, who used to live in one country, could also determine one date.

Stajanović: Ivanović’s detention huge unjust (RTK2)

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanović called Serbian people and political representatives to come to united stand with regard to the case of Oliver Ivanović. Stojanović said that Serbian politicians are trying not to comment decisions of the judicial bodies, however process against Oliver Ivanović represents a precedent. He went on to say that judiciary didn’t function very well in the past and that it is hard to explain what is happening now.

Gnjilane/Gilan municipality to appoint a Serb for Deputy Mayor for Communities (RTK2)

Post of the Deputy Mayor for Communities has not been filled yet after the formation of the new municipal authorities in Gnjilane/Gilan municipality.

Legal conditions for appointing a Serb to that position have not been met since Serbs make only 2 percent of the local assembly, out of 10 percent needed by the law, that is, they have only one local councilor in the municipal assembly. Appointment would still be possible if a coalition would be made with Turkish and Roma communities, or if the Mayor makes appointment.

“We expect justice to be satisfied” (RTK2)

Kosovo parliament MPs have paved the way for creation of the special court for the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) crimes. Representative of the Association of Kidnapped and Missing Serbs Silvana Marinković says that she is not expecting too much, however she voiced hope that justice will be satisfied. “We don’t know who is going to be in the special court and whether they will perform what is expected from them, or whether it will only be for the general public and to be as it was so far that perpetrators are sometimes arrested and then released.

Simić: Special court to be established as soon as possible (RTK2)

The head of the Serbian List caucus in the Kosovo parliament Slavko Simić said to RTK2 that he expected more MPs to support constitutional amendments that paved the way for creation of the special court for Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) crimes. Simić said that some MPs might have been exposed to certain pressure to support the amendments.

Stojanovic: No serious dialogue in Pristina about ZSO (RTK2)
