Gashi: Supreme Court reduces sentence for Sylejman Selimi (media)

The lawyer for the former KLA commander Sylejman Selimi, Tome Gashi, announced on Facebook that the Supreme Court of Kosovo has reduced the sentence against his client, convicted of war crimes. Gashi said Selimi is acquitted of commanding responsibility on charges which the court originally declared his guilty of. “With this verdict, the Supreme Court of Kosovo has modified the verdict of the Appeals Court of 2016 by reducing the sentence”, Gashi said adding that Selimi’s legal team will continue seeking full acquittal.

Kurti: Dialogue with Serbs, not Serbia (Danas, Blic)

Our priority will be dialogue with the Serbs from Kosovo, we have an economic and social plan for the northern municipalities of Kosovo and we are not against the Serbs, but Serbia is against us, said leader of the Self-Determination Movement Albin Kurti. Belgrade based daily Danas published a summary of Blic newspaper interview with Albin Kurti.

The previous dialogue held with Serbia in Brussels did not set any conditions for Serbia, and internal issues of Kosovo were discussed, which is why the outcome could not have been just, Kurti believes.

Serb man from Mitrovica indicted on war crimes charges (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Special Prosecution has indicted today a Serb man from Mitrovica on suspicion of having been involved in crimes against civilian population in Vushtrri/Vucitrn. The accused is alleged to have been part of Serbian police reserve units operating in the region of Vushtrri/Vucitrn and for killing a 13-year-old Albanian boy in 1999. The accused is also charged with involvement in the expulsion of civilian population from their homes.

Thaci again threatens to sue Serbia for genocide (B92, Tanjug)

For the second time in a month, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has taken to Facebook to announce that Serbia would be sued for genocide.

Thaci's latest threat comes after his failed attempt to form an army in Kosovo, and ahead of the raising of the first indictments by the Specialist Court for KLA crimes, expected to happen by the end of the year, Tanjug said in its report on Tuesday.

Dacic to Thaci: KLA committed genocide against Serb people (B92, Tanjug)

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is "continuing with provocations," Serbian First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic observed on Wednesday.

According to Dacic, after "the debacle" of Thaci's idea to form the so-called Kosovo army, he is trying to "switch the domestic public's attention" to a different topic - a genocide lawsuit against Serbia.

Fatmir Limaj seeks €7m compensation for “Klecka” case (Koha)

Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) leader, Fatmir Limajm, has requested €7 million in compensation for being wrongfully accused in the so-called Klecka case. Limaj is seeking reparations from the Kosovo Judicial Council for his time under detention and house arrest. Limaj’s lawyer said if the Kosovo Judicial Council rejects the request, they plan to sue the relevant courts. Limaj was acquitted three times of war crimes charges.

EULEX is the only one to possess lists of Serb criminals (Indeksonlie)

Kosovo security bodies do not possess any list of the suspected individuals for crimes committed in Kosovo during the war period, 1998-1999.

Indeksonline reports that such list of soldiers or armed individuals identified that they participated in commitment of serious crimes such as massacres, slaughter of civilian population, rape of women, are only possessed by the European Mission of the Rule of Law, EULEX which has their prosecution for “target.”
