Vetevendosje against Thaci’s idea for changing KSF law (Indeksonline)

Vetevendosje has come out against President Hashim Thaci’s idea to create an armed force by changing the current law on the Kosovo Security Force (KSF). Vetevendosje deputy leader, Driton Caushi, said Thaci has failed to deliver on all his promises, and the latest one will be no different. “We have continuously supported the formation of the Kosovo Armed Forces by changing the Constitution,” Caushi said.

Vetevendosje MP, Driton Caushi, in today’s plenary session of the Assembly accused the government of trying to “fog out” the case regarding Astrit Dehari’s death at the Prizren detention facility. “Today marks 45 days from Astrit’s death and many citizens continue to seek justice for him while the regime is employing all possible means to fog out the case and close the investigation,” Caushi said adding that the official account into Dehari’s death resembles science fiction movies.

The Vetëvendosje Movement MP, Driton Çaushi, during an interview for KTV said the situation in Kosovo will not remain quiet if the government does not annul the border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro.  “The situation will not remain quiet, our actions will be radicalized. The responsibility will be with the government of Kosovo,” he said.  Çaushi is currently serving 30 days house arrest for releasing teargas inside the Kosovo Assembly building.

The Kosovo Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs approved the draft law on ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro paving the way for the Assembly Presidency to set a plenary session for voting on the bill. Media report however that a member of Vetëvendosje believed to be MP Driton Çaushi set off teargas in the meeting. Despite the incident, the members of the committee approved the draft law.  Shortly after, the Kosovo Police arrested Çaushi in connection to the incident.

Vetevendosje says fire attack on LDK Beqiri’s car is “deplorable” (Indeksonline)

Vetevendosje deputy leader Driton Caushi has condemned the setting on fire of the car owned by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group chief Ismet Beqiri. “Such acts are deplorable and we call on institutions to act and not leave room for anyone’s labeling or smearing,” Caushi wrote on his Facebook account. He further commented on a statement by publicist Halil Matoshi who seemed to suggest Vetevendosje is responsible for the attack.

Vetevendosje Deputy Leader, Driton Caushi, told RTV Dukagjini today that an increasing number of people are joining the protest organized by the joint opposition in downtown Pristina. Asked to comment on the attacks against the vehicles of two government ministers, Caushi said the Vetevendosje Movement has nothing to do with the attacks. “However, such attacks are not unexpected given the aggressiveness of the government vis-à-vis the opposition and the people of Kosovo,” he added.

Opposition representatives call for early parliamentary elections (Kosovapress)

Opposition representatives told the news agency today that although early parliamentary elections were not their initial objective, elections are now seen as the only solution to the political crisis. Muharrem Nitaj, spokesman for the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said the opposition expected the government would reflect on the “two anti-constitutional” agreements, referring to the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro and the agreement on the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities.

In a press conference today, Vetevendosje’s deputy leader Driton Caushi and the head of parliamentary group Glauk Konjufca said they are determined to continue opposing agreements for the creation of the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities and the border demarcation with Montenegro. Caushi said the situation in Kosovo is becoming increasingly volatile and unstable while Konjufca said that he was travelling along with Kurti at the time of the arrest and claims that the police did not possess any warrant against Kurti.
