National commission for UNESCO to be set by fall (Tanjug, RTS)

Serbia’s former ambassador to Turkey and the Vatican Darko Tanaskovic, who has been put forward as Serbia’s ambassador to UNESCO, said Monday that Serbia will set up a national commission for UNESCO.

Due to its relatively unfavorable international position over the past decade, Serbia has not been able act timely and in the right way to protect its cultural and spiritual heritage in the province of Kosovo-Metohija and in neighboring states, Tanaskovic said on a talk show broadcast by the state-run RTS.

Serbs expect a definitive answer about the missing (RTS)

Families of Missing and Kidnapped Serbs from Kosovo believe that the Special Tribunal for Crimes of the KLA, whose formation was announced, is last chance to shed light on their fate.

Silvana Marinkovic is looking for her husband Goran. She is hoping that the investigation will finally begin and the fate of the missing and kidnapped will be solved and the perpetrators of these crimes will finally be arrested and punished.

She warns that in many cases there is evidence of the perpetrators and that although nothing has been done.

BELGRADE -- A community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo is entering a phase where its "fundamental establishment should finally begin," says Marko Đurić.

The director of the Serbian government office for Kosovo and Metohija pointed out that the formation of this future community, known in Serbian by its acronym "ZSO", is closely associated with the formation of the Kosovo government.

Djuric and Tahiri to discuss Kosovska Mitrovica in Brussels (Tanjug)

BELGRADE, BRUSSELS - Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric will meet with representatives of the interim authorities from Pristina in Brussels Tuesday, and the main topic of the talks will be the situation in the northern KiM city of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Djuric told Belgrade-based TV Pink on Monday that he expected to hear new ideas for the resolution of issues related to the bridge connecting the southern (Albanian) and the northern (Serb) part of the city.

Williamson in Serbia, organ trafficking report follows soon (Tanjug, RTS,Politika)

BELGRADE - Clint Williamson, chief prosecutor and head of the EU special investigation team for human organ trafficking during the clashes in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) in 1999, will visit Belgrade on Tuesday and meet with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

The U.S. prosecutor visited Kosovo on Monday and according to media announcements, he should release his report on potential illegal activities concerning organ trafficking toward the end of the month.

Serbs to hold protest in Zubin Potok on Monday (Tanjug, RTS)

ZUBIN POTOK - A protest under the slogan “We are all the same, who of us is next?” will be held in Zubin Potok, northern Kosovo, on Monday over the ungrounded threats of arrests to Serbs, the management team for establishing a community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija has stated.

Zubin Potok Mayor Stevan Vulovic told Tanjug that members of Kosovo police tried last week to serve him with a summons, issued by a EULEX prosecutor, but he was not at home.

Henri Bone: Schokenhoff visiting Serbia in order to encourage reforms promised to Berlin by Vucic (RTS)

Director of the German Foundation Conrad Adenauer in Belgrade Henri Bone stated he sees the visit of the German MPs to Serbia, headed by Andreas Schokenhoff, as an encouragement and support to reforms of the Serbian government and society in the context of European integrations.

Return to Zac, survival thanks to huge efforts (RTS)

Around 500 displaced Serbs returned to Kosovo in the course of last year and in the first six months of this year. That is little, admits Kosovo Ministry for Communities and Return, but they also underlined that all of them have remained to live in Kosovo. Few days ago family Komatovic has returned to Zac.

Returnees in Zac, near Istok, are not shoot at any more, they are not stoned either. From time to time there’s a thief in the village, thus Zac is at the moment, in a way, peaceful place for living.

Albanians blocked the road in Brdjani (RTS)

A small group of Albanians this morning blocked the road in Brdjani area, in northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Albanians have blocked the road, which is leading towards the buildings in which Serbs live. In the same area the Serbs began construction of two residential buildings. Albanians request that construction of houses in this multi-ethnic settlement will be also allowed to them.
