Beqiri: Request for new elections, Thaci's blackmail (RTKlive)

Ismet Beqiri, general secretary of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), stated today for Politiko.net  that coalition block considers that the request for new elections, expressed by the adviser of the outgoing Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, is blackmail. Beqiri said that the Democratic Party of Kosovo is trying to intimidate one of the three parties that have formed the after-election block. “We say that he is very much mistaken because the Block never feared new elections. However there is no reason or need for Kosovo to hold new elections since there is the possibility to form institutions and it is well-known that the block has the votes,” he said.

He said that the last Assembly session proved that one party has 83 deputies while the other, 37. I do not know what else should one say to PDK and Mr. Thaci in order for them to understand that no one wants to govern with them,” said Beqiri.

“They should be wondering why they brought themselves to this position. And the answer is very clear: because of everything that they did to this country,” said Beqiri.

“We have the majority of required deputies to establish institutions, reconfirm election of the Assembly Speaker and form the government,” he said.

“We do not see any reason to hold new elections, because there is solution. If nobody had the majority and the possibility to create institutions, then it would have made sense,” said Beqiri.
