Ombudsman: Jahjaga, Zbogar and Meucci are hindering investigations on “Hasani case” (KosovaPress)
Kosovo’s Ombudsman, Sami Kurteshi, through a press release informed the public that the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga; European Union Special Representative, Samuel Zbogar and EULEX Head of Mission, Gabriele Meucci, are hindering investigations of the Ombudsman institution over allegations of legal and constitutional violations committed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Enver Hasani. Regarding this issue, the Ombudsman has addressed a series of questions to Jahjaga, Zbogar and Meucci, to find out the nature, content, level and duration of contacts between Hasani and the European Union and EULEX officials. "All the officials responsible either have completely ignored the letters sent by the Ombudsman, or refused categorically to answer his questions. The complete failure of cooperation, according to the Law on the Ombudsman, is considered obstruction of the work of the Ombudsman,'" says the press release. The Ombudsman considers very worrying that President Jahjaga refuses to answer questions not only about Enver Hasani’s contacts with EU and EULEX officials, but also questions about contacts that Office of the President may have had with Hasani, during talks with the EU and EULEX regarding the extension of the mandate of international judges. According to Kurteshi, refusal of Hasani and Jahjaga to cooperate with the Ombudsman represents a confirmation of a disturbing reality in Kosovo.
