No establishment of the Association if Serbia does not implement the agreements (RTKlive)
Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said that there will be no progress on the establishment of the Association/Community of the Serb-majority Municipalities if the agreements with Serbia on telecom and energy are not implemented. “We have a blockade from Serbia or a disrespecting of the agreements on the issues of Kosovo’s dial code and the independence for the energy transmission system,” said Tahiri for Ora News.
“Serbia is avoiding the implementation, it has blocked them (the agreements), so we also conditioned them by not initiating any implementing action on the Association. We have stated our position that we do not move forward with the Association without receiving the telephone dial code for Kosovo and without obtaining the independence for the energy transmission system. Thus, the Association establishment requires several actions, such as statute drafting, which has to be in accordance with the Constitution, but I wanted to tell you that this is the current situation,” Tahiri said.
She added that she believes that the European Union sees that there would be no rationale in continuing with the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue if the above-mentioned agreements would not implement.
Asked if Kosovo has any possibility to block Serbia’s road towards European integration, Tahiri said “in fact we see Serbia’s integration in the European Union as a positive development, but we do not think that Serbia can integrate in EU without recognizing Kosovo and that EU must make it impossible for Serbia to block Kosovo’s potential integration. If such mistakes are allowed, the situation in the Balkans would complicate, because we have Albania which will soon receive the date for the opening of accession talks”.
