Mogherini critical about tariffs and transformation of KSF (RTS, Tanjug)
During the meeting of EU leaders in Brussels, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini talked about problems in the Belgrade - Pristina dialogue, tariffs on Serbian goods posed by Pristina's authorities and the transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) and of which they said were not welcomed, learns Belgrade based news agency Tanjug in the Council.
Tanjug's diplomatic sources in the European Council say that the issue of Kosovo at the summit in Brussels was initiated by Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades who, speaking to EU leaders, said that this initiative came after the recent visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Nicosia.
The President of Cyprus assessed that things "do not develop well" within the framework of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, mentioning the introduction of tariffs by Pristina authorities on goods from central Serbia and asked Head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini to brief member states on the situation in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
According to Tanjug sources, the High Representative reiterated Brussels's position that Kosovo's tariffs "are not a good move and block the dialogue".
At the same time, Mogherini also said that there were "objections from the Pristina side" and that together with the Commissioners Johannes Hahn and Cecilia Malmstrom, she was working to find a solution to the crisis.
At the European Council for say for Tanjug that Federica Mogherini at the EU leaders' meeting spoke about the transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces, reiterating the view that "such a move is not welcome nor constructive".
It was stated that she assessed that there was a political problem within Kosovo where "the president and prime minister do not speak the same language" and that "it complicates and blocks things".
