Ahead UN Security Council session, Dacic and Lavrov about Kosovo in St Petersburg (Tanjug, Beta)
Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in St Petersburg about the situation in Kosovo, prior to the June 10 session of the UN Security Council.
Dacic told reporters in St. Petersburg, where he is taking part in the International Economic Forum, that he introduced in detail the plan of Serbia on the issue of Kosovo to Lavrov, and that the head of Russian diplomacy told him that Moscow absolutely supported Serbia and that the support would be clearly expressed and at a session of the UN Security Council on Monday.
"The meeting was very important because it happened in the aftermath of the latest developments in Kosovo and Metohija, after the incidents and intrusion into the North of Kosovo and attacks on the UN forces, that is, the UN mission and the Russian representative of UNMIK, and before the SC session where I will participate on Monday," said Dacic.
He says that he thoroughly acquainted Lavrov with what Serbia will do in the coming months, "what are our attitudes regarding this most important issue".
"That we are ready for a compromise, but that the Albanian side does not want an agreement and a compromise, that it constantly goes with demolition of all agreements, that it does not want to fulfil what it signed six years ago, to form a ZSO, or to cancel the tax , nor to respect the obligations that the security and armed forces do not come to the north of Kosovo," Dacic said.
When one adds an attack on UN forces, that is peace mission, he said, one can see that they do not want to come to any solution.
"Lavrov also acquainted me with Russian attitudes. On this occasion, we noted that there is very good co-ordination between our two leaders and that Russia absolutely supports Serbia and that this support will be clearly expressed at the session of the UN Security Council on Monday, June 10," emphasized Dacic.
